Cheeseburger from Paradise
“The Burger” at Capital Bar and Grill Named One of Year’s Best Burgers by Serious Eats

Serious Eats takes burgers, well, seriously. The highly customizable, all-American favorite can come in all shapes and sizes as well as a never-ending parade of toppings, sauces, rubs and buns. In 2011, the site reviewed more than 250 different hamburgers and has recently released its top ten “Favorite Burgers of 2011” which includes The Burger at Capital Bar and Grill, the popular power lunch spot and local watering hole tucked into the historic Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Capital Bar and Grill starts with seven ounces of all-natural Creekstone Beef that diners can customize with a variety of cheeses including Blue Cheese, Pimento Cheese [a southern favorite,] or one of the traditional standbys – Cheddar, Swiss or American. Then, the burger is topped with House-cured Bacon, Grilled Onions and Bernaise. The burger’s partner-in-crime are the salty and cheesy Parmesan Fries and a housemade Pickle.

Serious Eats correspondent Kat Robinson noted, “If the house-chopped sirloin, cooked to a perfect medium rare, with a charred edge wasn’t enough to make the burger at Capital Bar and Grill memorable, it was the housemade pickles, the house-cured bacon, and especially the pimento cheese. CBG’s burger is consistently good; after my review I kept going back and having it again and again, along with the restaurant’s Parmesan-dusted fries and complimentary fried black-eyed peas. There have been a few burgers that have come close, but no other burger in the state of Arkansas (or any of the other eight states I ate burgers in this year) beats this one.”
