John Besh wins James Beard Award

Chef John Besh of Restaurant August in New Orleans seems to be on a winning streak in 2006. 

We are thrilled to announce that John Besh, Chef and Co-proprietor of August in New Orleans, has won the 2006 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef: Southeast!  This marked John's second consecutive nomination for the award and his first win. 

John also found time earlier this year to compete against Mario Batali on Iron Chef America on the Food Network, achieving victory in the andouille sausage battle. 

This recognition is especially well deserved this year.  John has been deeply involved in helping New Orleans and its restaurant community rebuild and reopen, while maintaining the superior quality of his cuisine for which August has always been known.
