Private Party Options Abound at  August

The elegant dining rooms and gracious atmosphere at August make all the meals served there memorable.  For the most important private events, such as weddings and rehearsal dinners, this sense of occasion can be created on an even grander scale in the restaurant’s private rooms upstairs.  Chef John Besh has developed menus to suit every occasion, and he is happy to work with the hosts of an event to meet budgets and cater to specific tastes with flexibility and the creativity for which he is known. 

A grand private dining room on the second floor of August is the site for larger events, seating up to 100 for banquet gatherings and 150 for cocktail receptions.  The serene, light-filled space is lined with immense windows and an imposing fireplace, against a backdrop of exposed red brick gracing one end.  It is a beautiful setting for a wedding, and while the room is being set up for the sit-down dinner to follow the ceremony, guests may enjoy hors d’oeuvres and cocktails upstairs in the fourth-floor Penthouse.            

Yes, August also boasts a handsome, two-bedroom penthouse at the top of its historic building, complete with a picturesque wrap-around wrought-iron balcony and private entrance from Tchoupitoulas and Gravier Streets.  Furnished with elegant restraint, this romantic space, with its inviting sofas, deep chairs, dining room, and private bar, becomes a gracious home-away-from-home in which to host intimate dinners for up to thirty or cocktails for 100.  For bridal couples celebrating their weddings and/or receptions at August, the restaurant is pleased to offer them the Penthouse for their wedding night.         

For private dinners in the Penthouse, Chef John Besh will tailor a five-course tasting menu with wine pairings at the host’s request.  Or choose one of the three-, four-, and six-course menus offered, which can also be served to larger parties in the upstairs rooms.  Passed hors d’oeuvres, like all the dishes at August, bear the stamp of Besh’s devotion to fresh local ingredients and pay tribute to the cuisine of southern Louisiana. 

In addition to the desserts on the set menus, picture-perfect cakes can be ordered from the restaurant’s Executive Pastry Chef, Joy Jessup.  Leave it to August to make your special event extra-special.
