Pastry Chef Erika Bruce
Catch and Catch at The Terrace
Catch Restaurant
and Catch at The Terrace are pleased to announce Pastry Chef Erika Bruce
as the newest addition to their backstage roster of New England culinary
experts. Bruce comes to Catch Restaurant from her most recent position as
Associate Editor of Cook’s Illustrated magazine, America’s most
sophisticated culinary periodical. The skills she honed through the magazine’s
commitment to fine ingredients, creative conceptualization, thorough execution,
and exquisite presentation now find full expression in her position as Pastry
Chef at Chris Parsons’s two restaurants. Dividing her time between Catch
Restaurant, in Winchester, Massachusetts, and Catch at The Terrace,
in Edgartown on Martha’s Vineyard, Bruce prepares breads and desserts that
capture the essence of her experience.
Among her position in several
bakeries and restaurants in the Boston and Bay areas, Bruce enjoyed stints at
Rialto Restaurant and Flour Bakery and Café in Cambridge—two establishments
where Chef Parsons also cultivated his love of preparing fine food. With a 1999
Professional Chef’s Diploma from the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, this
pastry aficionado also has established her own wedding cake business, Le Beau
Gateau. Accolades from local publications include Best Wedding Cake in 2007 by
Improper Magazine, Boston Globe and Boston Magazine’s
Elegant Weddings. Bruce has appeared on the popular PBS cooking show,
America’s Test Kitchen to present her confectionary talents to thousands and
thousands of viewers. Her stature may be slight, but this petite powerhouse
bakes big!
