Dreams and Fetishes at The Inn of The Five Graces

Leave it to folks at The Garrett Hotel Group to think of the most unusual and unique turndown amenities in the industry.  The owners of the renowned resorts The Point and Lake Placid Lodge in upstate New York have acquired a property in the heart of Santa Fe’s historic district called The Inn of The Five Graces, and, in keeping with The Garrett Hotel Group’s meticulous attention to detail, guests receive dreamcatchers and fetishes on their pillows at evening turndown.

Dreamcatchers have always played an important role in the Native American culture.  Made of leather, wire, brightly colored wooden beads, and feathers, the dreamcatcher is based on the methods used by animals in attracting their mates, for example, the beautiful feathers of the male peacock that lure females.  Good dreams are attracted by the bright beads and the soft feathers at the base of the dreamcatcher, and they pass through the main circle.  Bad dreams, however, are caught in the finely woven web and held there until the bright morning sun destroys them.  Dreamcatchers are also used to catch the visions of romantic love in one’s dreams.

The Native American custom of tiny fetishes made of semi-precious stones has also been adopted by The Inn of The Five Graces.  The inner spirit of each carved animal offers spiritual renewal, good luck, and protection.  For example, the mountain lion provides leadership and resourcefulness; the buffalo provides steadfast endurance to rise above weaknesses; and the badger provides the ability to reach a desired goal.

At The Inn of The Five Graces, where the senses are indulged at every turn, only sweet dreams and good luck will come your way!

The Point, Lake Placid Lodge, and The Inn of The Five Graces, all operated by The Garrett Hotel Group, are members of the Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious international association of privately owned hotels and restaurants embodying the highest culinary standards and the French “art de vivre.”
