The Point, Lake Placid Lodge, Annual Best Lists: Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, Forbes and More It seems that when the editors of top travel magazines choose their favorite spots in the world, the results are never in question, and once again The Point and Lake Placid Lodge have scaled the peaks and claimed lofty accolades from the industry’s most prestigious indicators. The Point, in Upper Saranac Lake, named one of National Geographic’s “Ten Best Hideaways & Inns” book, was listed among the top 10 U.S. Hotels in Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 100 - Best Hotels in the World” issue, and secured a coveted spot once again on its “Gold List.” The Travel + Leisure “World’s Best Awards” included The Point in its Top 100 Overall category, and also listed the resort in its “Our Favorite American Winter Retreats” feature. The Point was included in the Robb Report’s “100 Best Places to Stay;” as well as in the Forbes Traveler 400. The Point was again awarded Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence, as well as Wine Enthusiast magazine’s Award of Unique Distinction. It is proud to be ranked #8 of the “Top U.S. Resort Hideaways” according to Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report. The Point is a Mobil Five-Star property and a Relais & Châteaux property. And no surprise. Built as a “rustic” retreat for William Avery Rockefeller, a nephew of John D. Rockefeller, The Point is about as luxurious as a cabin in the woods can be. By virtue of its unparalleled Saranac Lake location and powerful Great Camp construction of massive beams, native-cut stones, slate roofs and giant boulder features, the camp had a wealth of advantages from the start. In 1986, when The Garrett Hotel Group acquired it, they revived in The Point a level of service, hospitality, privacy and tradition that may even surpass that expected by the original owners and guests. Like The Point, Lake Placid Lodge, The Garrett Hotel Group’s second Adirondack property, began life as one of the legendary private “Great Camps,” now transformed into one of the finest small hotels in the country. It’s gained its place on elite best lists including Travel + Leisure’s “T+L 500,” Condé Nast Traveler’s “Top 50 Ski Hotels,” and “Top 20 U.S. Resort Hideaways” in Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report. Lake Placid Lodge has also been merited among Forbes Traveler 400 list in 2006, an elite group of the world’s best hotels. Lake Placid Lodge enjoys a continued presence in the prestigious Zagat Top Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey, and a rating of four Mobil stars. It received an Award of Ultimate Distinction from Wine Enthusiast magazine; was endorsed as a “Recommended Property” by Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotel Guides; and was cited as one of the best places to stay in New York state by the I ♥NY campaign. Lake Placid Lodge is a Relais & Châteaux property. The Inn of The Five Graces marks a western expansion for The Garrett Hotel Group, and one that brings to the American Southwest the standards of hospitality for which the Group is renowned. The Inn is furnished to great effect with a rich collection of colorful artifacts and antiques from the middle and near east, handsomely paired with local Native American pieces. The property has been carefully renovated and is garnering its share of expert recognition, too: it is featured in the Zagat Top Hotels, Resorts & Spas survey, and was honored in Travel + Leisure’s “The World’s Best Awards.” Condé Nast Traveler listed The Inn of The Five Graces among its picks for “100 Best New Hotels in the World.” Andrew Harper’s Hideaway Report singled it out as a Grand Award winner in its 26th annual Hotel of the Year competition, and The Inn was endorsed as a “Recommended Property” by Condé Nast Johansens Luxury Hotel Guides. Sexiest Hotels, Inc. named The Inn of The Five Graces one of the 100 Sexiest Hotels in the World. The Inn of The Five Graces is a Relais & Châteaux property. Upholding their claim to the highest accolades in the field, The Point, Lake Placid Lodge, and The Inn of The Five Graces invite you to visit: come experience what Condé Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and other industry standards consider to be the height of luxury hospitality. The Point, Lake Placid Lodge and The
Inn of The Five Graces, all operated by The Garrett Hotel Group, are members of
Relais & Châteaux, the prestigious international association of privately owned
hotels and restaurants embodying the highest culinary standards and the French
“art de vivre.” |
